چکیده

Conservation laws are hyperbolic partial differential equations that are commonly used to express the fundamental balance laws that occur in many physical systems and engineering problems when dissipation effects are neglected. In these lectures we shall focus on systems that are made of the interconnection of scalar or 2x2 conservation laws in one space dimension. Typical examples include hydraulic networks, gas and fluid transportation networks, electrical lines, packed bed and plug-flow reactors, drawing processes in glass and polymer industries, road traffic networks, packet-switch networks etc...

Nonlinear and Adaptive Control with Applications

Nonlinear control is often viewed as a collection of tools, such as feedback linearization, passivity, or backstepping, that can be employed and combined to design and analyze controllers for various classes of nonlinear systems. A good designer not only has mastered the use of a wide range of such tools but also has learned which tools are most suitable for which tasks. The book Nonlinear and ...

Immersion and invariance: a new tool in stabilization and adaptive control of nonlinear systems

A new method to design asymptotically stabilizing and adaptive control laws for nonlinear systems is presented. The method relies upon the notions of system immersion and manifold invariance and does not require the knowledge of a (control) Lyapunov function. The construction of the stabilizing control laws resembles the construction used in nonlinear regulator theory to derive the (invariant) ...

Immersion and invariance: a new tool for stabilization and adaptive control of nonlinear systems

A new method to design asymptotically stabilizing and adaptive control laws for nonlinear systems is presented. The method relies upon the notions of system immersion and manifold invariance and, in principle, does not require the knowledge of a (control) Lyapunov function. The construction of the stabilizing control laws resembles the procedure used in nonlinear regulator theory to derive the ...

Digital stabilization of strict feedback dynamics through immersion and invariance ?

This paper deals with the extension to sampled-data stabilization of strict feedback dynamics of the Immersion and Invariance procedure proposed in Astolfi and Ortega [2003]. A direct digital approach is developed in two steps: first the target dynamics and immersion mapping are defined for the equivalent discrete-time model; then the control law is built to drive the dynamics towards the invar...

Immersion and invariance adaptive control of linear multivariable systems

We show in this paper that it is possible to globally adaptively stabilize linear multivariable systems with reduced prior knowledge of the high-frequency gain. In particular, we relax the restrictive (nongeneric) symmetry condition usually required to solve this problem. Instrumental for the establishment of our result is the use of the new immersion and invariance approach to adaptive control...
